Privacy Policy

Last updated October 30, 2026. This policy covers the Someone app for iPhone and this website, someone.dating.

The Someone app is made by Someone Dating LLC, which is being formed (“we”, “us”). It’s a dating app for adults where everyone you’ll meet is an AI. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have.

The short version. We collect what the Someone app needs to work: your profile, your chats and a few technical details. An AI provider writes the personas’ replies from your profile and messages. We don’t sell or share your personal information, there are no ads or ad trackers, live calls are never recorded, and you can delete your account in the app at any time.

1. Notice at collection

This table is our notice at collection under California law: the categories of personal information we collect, why, whether we sell or share them (we don’t), and how long we keep them. Sections 3 to 7 give the details.

2. The AI in the Someone app

Everyone you’ll meet on Someone is an AI, not a real person. The app says so when you sign up, on every profile, and at the start of every call, and every chat reminds you when it starts and at least every three hours, a reminder you can’t turn off.

Personas never claim to be human, even if you ask, and never suggest meeting up, video calls, moving to another app or swapping numbers. Each AI decides whether to like you back based on your profile, and as you talk, your messages shape how it replies and whether the chat goes on. Some will pass, and some will end a chat.

The Someone app is for adults only. Chatting and calling with AI personas may not be suitable for some people, including minors. The Someone app isn’t a substitute for professional help or emergency services. If a message suggests you may be in crisis, the app steps out of the chat to point you to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the US), and the romance pauses for a while. Our safety and crisis protocol describes how this works.

3. What we collect

What you give us

What we don’t collect

The app never asks for your location. Distances on Someone are part of each persona’s story, and nobody is located, including you. We don’t read your contacts. “Add to Contacts” only opens Apple’s new-contact card, which you can save to your iPhone or cancel. We don’t read your photo library: you pick each photo you share. “Save to Photos”, on a photo you were given, asks only to add photos, so the app can save that one, marked as AI-generated, and never sees the others.

4. How we use it

We don’t use your information for advertising, we don’t build advertising profiles, and we don’t make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

5. Sensitive personal information

Some of what the Someone app needs is sensitive: who you want to meet can reveal your sexual orientation, you can tell us if you’re trans, and your chats and photos are private. We use sensitive personal information only to provide Someone as you ask: to show your profile, decide matches and write replies, and to keep people safe. We don’t use it to infer characteristics about you, and we don’t sell, share or advertise with it. Because we use it only for these purposes, California law doesn’t require a “limit the use of my sensitive personal information” link. During setup, we ask for your consent before your profile and messages are used this way.

6. Who processes it for us

We use a small number of service providers, under contracts that let them use your information only to provide their services to us:

We don’t sell or share your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising. We don’t allow third parties to collect it from the app or this website. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a merger or sale of our business, in which case this policy keeps applying to it.

7. How long we keep it

InformationHow long we keep it
Your profile and photosUntil you change them or delete your account.
Chats: messages, photos, voice recordings, memories and call summariesWhile the chat exists. Deleted when you unmatch or delete your account. When a report ends the chat, your voice recordings are deleted at once and the rest 30 days after our review of it is done.
The text of calls30 days, then deleted.
Your stories24 hours on your story. The photo is deleted a day later, unless a match’s reply quotes it, in which case it stays with that chat.
Purchase recordsUntil you delete your account. Apple keeps its own records of your purchases.
Usage events180 days.
Crash and exit reports90 days.
Safety casesExcerpts and quotes: 30 days after a case is closed. The outcome is kept, without them.
Server logs7 days. Our host, Fly.io, also keeps its own copy of the logs in its log search, for 7 days.
Age-lock hashesIndefinitely, linked to no account, so a phone that said it was under 18 stays locked.
Crisis referral countsKept as daily totals, with no user identifiers.
Early-access emailUntil you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. After you unsubscribe, we delete the address and keep only a one-way fingerprint of it, so we never email it again.

We may keep information longer when the law requires it, or to resolve a dispute or a safety investigation that’s underway, and only for as long as that lasts.

8. Deleting your information

Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a Someone Plus subscription, which Apple bills; cancel it in your iPhone’s Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions. Our database provider keeps a restore history for 7 days; deleted information is gone from it once that window passes.

9. Your choices in the app

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia, you have the right to:

How to ask. Send your request by email to [email protected] with “Privacy request” in the subject. Because your account has no email or name attached, we’ll verify a request by asking you to confirm it from inside the app, or with details only your account holds, and we’ll ask only for what we need to verify you. You can use an authorized agent, who must show your signed permission, and we may still ask you to verify your identity with us.

When we answer. We’ll confirm we got your request within 10 business days and answer within 45 calendar days. If we need more time, we’ll tell you why, and take at most another 45 days.

Appeals. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer within 60 days. We’ll answer the appeal within 60 days (45 in some states). If you’re not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general.

California residents can also ask which personal information, if any, we disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing in the last year (California Civil Code § 1798.83). We don’t disclose any.

11. Adults only

The Someone app is only for people 18 and over, and this website is meant for adults. If a chat suggests you’re under 18, that chat closes and your account is paused until our team reviews it. If we learn that we have information from someone under 18, we delete it, except the age-lock hashes that keep that phone locked.

12. Security

The app connects to our servers only over encrypted connections, account keys and email-confirmation links are stored only as one-way hashes, and every photo you send is safety-checked before a persona sees it. Only the people who run the Someone app can reach our systems. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we’ll notify you as the law requires.

13. Where we process it

The Someone app is offered in the United States, and we and our service providers process your information in the United States, with one exception: Cloudflare, which serves this website, handles each visit in a data center near the visitor. If you use the Someone app from elsewhere, you understand it will be processed there.

14. This website and early access

15. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
